To decompress the file you will need a program like WinZip®. (Windows XP also has an internal "UNZip" program) Database Construction ===================== Effective with database #MW0226, CUBAN stations with the SAME callsign, but operating on different frequencies, are now included in the database with their frequenices APPENDED. e.g.. CMBA540, CMBA710, CMBA970, CMBA1180, etc. AND, as originally listed. e.g. CMBA. Since the database is sorted in ASCENDING order by callsign then frequency, inputting JUST CMBA would return CMBA on 540 KHz. Inputting CMBA540 would return the same data ... but with the callsign PLUS the first three frequency numbers in the STA(ion) window. For example, if the lookup was for CMBA1180, it would display as CMBA118. (The STA display can only handle 7 characters) WTS was also upgraded to v1.06 to accomodate this change. Earlier versions of WTS will still function fine but without coverage for the Cuban multiple station listings. See the release notes for WTS v1.06 for more information. U.S. Stations Operating Under a CP (Construction Permit) ======================================================== In terms of identifying these (CP) stations, I've appended "(CP)" [without the quotes] to the CITY field of the WTS output. e.g., if you ask WTS for a station lookup and see the city name with (CP) to the right of it then you'll know that that station is operating under a Construction Permit. Please Note: IF a station has a LICENSE AND a CP then any CP records are EXCLUDED - ONLY the LICENSE records are used. INSTALLATION: If you are using this database with WTS, It **MUST** be placed in your WTS DATABASES folder. If you accepted the default location during initial installation, it will be located in: C:\Program Files\WTS\Databases Windows will probably notify you that WTSMWDB.TXT already exists and will ask if you wish to replace it. Answer YES. Important ========= Once WTSMWDB.TXT is located in your WTS databases folder, you'll need to fire up WTS and use the /BDB command to "install" this update otherwise WTS will continue to use the existing (old) database. For Info: WTS does NOT directly use the WTSMWDB.TXT database since it is only partially complete relative to YOUR geographic location. The /BDB command BUILDS a NEW database (USERMWDB.TXT) that *DOES* include that information so USERMWBD.TXT *is* the database that WTS actually uses on a routine basis. That's why it's important that you build a new db (/BDB) each time you update WTSMWDB.TXT. EXCEPTIONS: For U.S. Stations, *ONLY* those that are currently listed as LICENSED (or CP ONLY) are included. ALL U.S. stations with a status of "NEW", "APP", etc. are EXCLUDED. Mexican Stations, "XE", "XENVA" and "XENVA1" are also EXCLUDED. Thanks for your continuing interest in WTS - Enjoy!
