Here are some non-measuring tips to help make mounting your capacitor(s) or any other
component(s) with a flat surface and screw holes a little easier.
Tools & Supplies Needed:
For mounting where no shaft is required -
- ScotchTM (or other brand) Transparent Tape
- Fine Point Marking Pen (I like Sanford's Sharpie® Ultra Fine Marker)
Procedure:
- Layer strip(s) of tape across the component's screw holes. Fold over one
end of the tape on itself first for easier removal later
- "Dot" the holes with your fine point marker.
- Peel Tape off component.
- Place marked tape on mounting panel and drill holes marked by the dots.
- Mount your component.
For mounting where shaft IS required -
- ScotchTM (or other brand) Transparent Tape
- Fine Point Marking Pen
- Waxed Paper
- Paper Punch
Procedure:
- Layer strips of tape across a piece of waxed paper large enough to
cover the component's screw holes and shaft. Fold over one end of the tape
on itself first for easier removal later.
- Punch a hole through the tape and waxed paper to "mark" the shaft hole. Be sure
to punch the hole far enough in so there will be sufficient surrounding tape to cover the screw
holes when placed on the component.
- Peel the tape off the waxed paper and place on the component with the shaft
protruding through the punched hole.
- "Dot" the holes with your marking pen.
- Peel Tape off component.
- Place marked tape on mounting panel and drill holes marked by the dots
and shaft hole.
- Mount your component.
